This petition was initiated in response to the official announcement shared by HAN regarding the T2 exam week, which states that all exams will take place on campuses, in Arnhem and Nijmegen, despite severe winter weather conditions and expected heavy snowfall. As highlighted in the post, students are instructed to arrange alternative transportation or cancel their exam enrollment if they anticipate delays, with no possibility of rescheduling. We believe this approach places an unreasonable burden on students who may be genuinely unable to travel safely due to weather-related disruptions, and it fails to adequately account for exceptional circumstances beyond students’ control.

We, the undersigned students, submit this petition to request that the Examination Board apply its legal responsibility under the WHW to ensure fair and proportionate assessment. Statement of Request

We ask to provide a fair and reasonable solution for students who are unable to attend on-campus exams due to severe weather conditions, without causing academic or financial disadvantage. This may include, but is not limited to, offering online examinations, rescheduling affected exams, or granting justified individual exceptions.

We explicitly ask that students are not forced to disenroll and retake exams in a later period, as this results in an unfair double study load in the following period and places a disproportionate burden on students for circumstances beyond their control.

This petition is intended to be formally submitted to the Examination Board of our programme and institution, with the aim of promoting fairness, consistency, and trust in assessment and decision-making processes.
