As of today (9/30/2020) The University of Alabama has decided to delay the start of school by one week and remove the week of spring break intended for use by faculty, staff and students in the spring 2021 term. I believe this was done in order to curb risks of a covid outbreak and allow for more in person classes to be held in the spring semester.

I hope I share the belief of a lot of my fellow students and faculty that we need spring break during this already stressful time. This week allows students and faculty to have time off with their family and friends to decompress. Not to mention that numerous students often use this time to prepare for life after UA graduation in the spring. This includes things like job searching, interviews, and housing relocation.

Please sign this petition in support of returning spring break to the spring academic calendar for 2021.
