This is shameful. as students, we have no right to demand anything from the faculty. If we dont like it here, we have all the power to leave.

Thank you for this petition...less than a year ago, I went to Whatcom CC after having a tough time adjusting to WWU my freshman year. At Whatcom, I found myself on the executive board and on student forums and interviews for looking at possible candidates for new faculty. I am perturbed that a -university- doesn't require the same standard. To clarify, not only the student executive board, but also the student senate (chosen by students) and students at large, were involved in the hiring processes and discussion of the school's budget allocations. These demands that are written, shouldn't need to be demanded in the first place. Get on it WWU. Please support.

This is a need. You breed and accept students with these ideologies yet do not offer much for them to grow. Fairhaven college is not enough.

It is vital that this institution is held accountable for the years of oppressive stances it takes against it's students, stances that prohibit students from succeeding, feeling safe, and often leave them physically and mentally traumatized by the time in which they graduate. It is important that all staff, including those in charge of student health are included in this. It is vital that we receive the support and aid that was promised upon our acceptance.

I transferred away from Western because of how turgidly unsafe it had become. This is CRITICAL. The time is long overdue for WWU to actually walk the walk too for a change.

Attending WWU as a WOC was one of the most harrowing experiences of my life.
I refuse to become part of WWU alumni networks until students of color receive the support and respect they deserve.
