This petition petitions the Manitoba Legislature and the Manitoba Department of Education to review and revise their practices in the interest of improving education in Manitoba. Our demands are as follows:

• Improve the level and rigor with which all subjects at all grade levels are taught
• Revise the structure of the education system based on high performing countries such as Finland, Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan
• Allow high school students to choose to pursue either vocational training or academic training in their senior years of high school
• Increase the minimum qualifications to become a teacher
• Increase the number of awards for academic achievement available to students
• Introduce a standardized final exam for every course
• Mandate merit, rather than seniority, based hiring and firing practices for teachers
