The purpose of this petition is to address the unjust disqualification of students, Louisa Powers and David Gindi from the Touro College Doctor of Physical Therapy program, due to a non-passing grade in a Research Methods class. A research-based class is not required by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and the material learned in the research class will not be presented on the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE). Therefore, this class is not mandatory in preparing students for the NPTE and should not require such high passing standards that distract a student from passing clinically significant classes that are required by CAPTE.

The policy of rescinding a student's eligibility within the program is unmerited. As a student body, we are requesting that the above named students be reinstated into the program or be given an opportunity to take a cumulative Research Methods exam and allowed back into the program based on a fair, pre-determined passing grade. This petition calls for the opportunity of reinstatement of Louisa Powers and David Gindi into the Touro College Doctor of Physical Therapy program for Semester 4 due to inconsistency in requirements between Touro College, the CAPTE, and the NPTE.
