Currently enrolled in COP3223C Terrible, unapproachable professor. Poor and slow at teaching,. Can't even seem to reliably get the projector to stay on and functional during a single class session. On the rare times she even arrives early she refuses to start teaching, or help in any manner until the time her class starts, stating something about how she is not 'legally allowed' to teach yet. In addition she won't even make sure the projector and computer are working until then, and I've never gone a class session without it messing up at least 3 times. After class she will leave immediately after packing up, stating if she doesn't leave now it's 'not safe' and that she may get mugged (class ends at 7:15pm so this is ever so slightly but still not really understandable) Absolutely no chance of communicating with her outside of class. It's my assumption that considering this, the other petition signers, and her ratemyprofessor.com (and other experiences not listed) that she simply hates her students, and doesn't respect, nor care about them. In fact, the TAs grade every assignment and you're told to contact them first for basically anything. Going so far that the TA office hours and emails are listed but hers is absent (on the home tab of the course on ucf webcourses). But the problem is, TAs don't check or respond to their emails, or webcourses daily, not that they should given that besides lecturing they handle literally everything for all 230 students (just checked webcourses that's not even an exaggeration). Avoid this professor like the plague.

she is the absolute worst professor I have ever met. She laughs at sutdents who ask questions. Refuses to see students during her required office hours while she eats lunch and cant even code properly

Professor Elva made a discriminatory comment about the death of a student during my CGS 2545 class in the fall 2015 semester. That is besides the fact that she is a terrible professor.

As a TA in CECS, I have heard nothing but bad things about her as a professor, regularly hearing complaints from her students and other TAs. As a student, I have had her substitute teach a class I was enrolled in once and on that one occasion she confirmed the complaints I had heard about her. She was rude, made mistakes, unwilling to listen to students, and spoke in a demeaning manner. Students literally got up and left because they couldn't take it anymore.
With the multitude of issues with her teaching not only here but also at her previous school, it's a wonder that she is still employed at UCF

I learned nothing from her Databases course. She taught material that contradicted information in the princton review about databases and refused to admit it was incorrect when called out on it in class. She proceeded to test us on her incorrect teachings, which negatively affected the test scores for those who learned it correctly. Unacceptable quality for a school that has one of the top computer science programs around.

Dr. Elva's teaching is inadequate, but even more frustratingly she is incredibly disrespectful of and rude to others, especially her students. She is not fit to be teaching in our CS program. For verification, you can see what was said by her students at her previous school. It's the same as we are saying now.
