I'm glad I'm leaving university this year and I feel very sorry for those who will still be here and will suffer as a result of these cuts. Cutting support staff in science departments is a terrible idea. Good luck getting some guy from centralised lab services to come set up some old piece of kit that will take hours of tinkering with to get it working. Unless of course you're a lab tech who's worked in that department for years and knows said machines little idiosyncrasies and how to set it up in 5 minutes.
Whilst you're at it Sir David, why not sack all the staff and we can do all our learning online.
How long could we pay all of those staff wages for if we used the £20 million paid to PWC? It's pretty disgusting really isn't it. Shame on you for royally screwing the university that I used to love.

The proposed changes will have a dramatic negative impact on student experience. Being able to contact consistent, knowledgable, subject relevant administration staff is essential to smooth handling of problems / enquiries that students have every day.
