To cut costs the UoR fired 1/4 support and technical staff and offered many large pay cuts to stay all while spending on a new campus in Malaysia, a new science park, standardizing fonts, and an expensive limitless campaign to draw in new students and a 30million consultation regarding redundancies. All of this with student consultation only after plan is in action.
Stop centralization, stop the cuts, stop isolating students!

It is inconceivable that a reduction in departmental staff could possibly lead to a more efficient service being offered to students. Even with the best will in the world, a handful of staff working within 'support hubs' will only be able to offer a very minimal service . Further, to replace face-to-face contact with a '24 hour webpage to help students at 2am in the morning' is shameful.
