Banning books for every child is a lazy parent's way of protecting their own child. If you don't want your kid to read these books, fine, but don't make decisions for the rest of us.

Banning books is antithesis of education. Scared small minds want to prevent others from learning. If you don’t like the book, don’t read it. But don’t pretend you can force others to not read it.

Book banning has never been on the right side of history. Keep up the good fight, students!

The more kids are exposed to opinions other than their own, the more tolerant they will be in life.

I honestly thought we had past this part of our collective history, The idea of "banning" books that are obviously talking directly about racism is just further proof that the "Northland Parent Association" is just another hate group guised as a concerned organization.

Keep these books on the shelves. Do not erase someone’s human experience.

I am a resident of the district and have a daughter attending. I wholeheartedly disagree with the removal of these books, as these are clearly targeted at removing LGBTQ, women, and other viewpoints that conservatives want to repress and keep hidden. Keep your culture war fake outrage away from my kids and their school.

Banning books is wrong and hurtful especially when it is about a certain race, religion, or sexual preference.

I'm signing this because it's ridiculous this fake outrage over books. If you don't want to read "those" type of books.... Don't read them. It's not your place to take away books you don't feel comfortable with. All students should have books representative of them and what they are going through

High school students are old enough to handle controversial subjects. And some of these books should not be listed as controversial in 2021. We need to read about other opinions in order to strengthen our own beliefs.

As a former student of NKCSD, it is reprehensible to remove these books. Students need diversity and representation—they need people who look like them and share a similar experience to feel heard and represented. Stand up for BIPOC and for students who are marginalized—give them a voice—they need to be heard and seen.
