Student engagement, involvement and communication on college campuses are evolving. A 2015 study by an Associated Student Government member at SCU revealed that only 30% of students read mass-communication emails sent out by the University clubs, organizations and departments. Of that 30%, 70% check those emails exclusively on their phone.

Students want a way to cut out the clutter and see the information that matters most to them in a simple and organized fashion. We have built a platform that allows each student to follow the areas of interest, clubs and departments that they care about. This platform is customizable so that students can turn off notifications about topics that they deem to 'clutter their inbox'. It will display all campus events and resources in a centralized mobile calendar for them to view.

In signing this petition, I am stating that I believe this tool will be useful for mass-communication and increasing involvement for all students, but especially for first-year and transfer students as they are integrated into the SCU community. I am endorsing this tool as something that will improve my college experience and help connect students with the groups or areas of intellectual curiosity that will help them develop their identity.
