Student be allowed to listen to music in class
Allowing students to send or select music gives them a sense of autonomy, which helps them feel more engaged in the learning environment. Many students—especially those with ADHD, anxiety, or sensory sensitivities—find that music helps them regulate their attention and drown out distracting background noise. When music is used during independent work time, it can create a calmer, more productive atmosphere and help students stay on task longer.
Additionally, letting students contribute music choices (with guidelines) can build classroom culture and inclusivity. It gives everyone a chance to share something meaningful, learn about different cultures and tastes, and feel more connected. As long as the music is appropriate and the teacher sets clear rules, it can make the classroom environment more positive without disrupting learning.
