Why cut down such a beautiful tree. A carving would preserve the spirit of the tree and add interest to the village

For what reason is it to be felled? If its not diseased or rotten leave it as it is...will take more than a 100years to replace it.

It is so sad to cut this tree down, though I understand the reasons. It would be great if it could be carved like others in the village so it still stands and carries on being loved.

I'd prefer the tree NOT TO BE CUT DOWN. Instead, if this is about the tree being in a blind spot, CLOSE the NORTH bound part of the road and make it a one way South towards the village. This would remove two problems we have in the area. ONE, the rat run and secondly, it would be far safer for children crossing that massively busy piece of road due to the cars in the morning.

I have just visited Malvern in Worcs. and they have carved a sculpture out of an oak tree in their local Park. This is better than just cutting it down.

Please carve this tree instead of just cutting it down. It deserves to be part of the village still, as it's stood for so many years and seen the village grow into what it is today!

This tree is a stubbington landmark, I wish you didn't have to cut it down, of you do please preserve it as a sculptured piece of art.

If we cannot keep a beautiful tree make it into something even more beautiful. Don't just destroy and be done with it!

They have them in Whiteley, and Burseldon, but I wonder if they're both under Southampton.

Having lived in the village for most of my life it would be a great shame to lose such a lovely tree. I appreciate that it's root spread may be causing some issues but rather than simply cut it down a tree carving should be done to keep this landmark.
