After speaking to a number of girls from each grade as well as several staff members, it has been found that changes need to be made in the current school tuckshop system.

It can be seen that young girls are being effected by the lack of food, as they are ‘rushing’ to tuckshop before class has ended to ensure they are getting a proper lunch. There is also an issue with the prices, as it is unreasonable and totally unaffordable. It is unfair for high school students to be parting with a large amount of money from their pay, just to afford lunch for the week.

Many students have offered up recommendations of food preferences from the previous tuckshop system, some of these recommendations include: rice paper rolls, sushi, butter chicken, Asian salad, Caesar salad, frozen yoghurt, frozen yoghurt, ice-creams, chips for $1, pizza pockets, lasagne, pesto pasta, subway, Nutella, deep springs, vitamin water, chocolate, poppers, muesli bars, brownies, veg/vegan food.

Not only does the selection of food need to be broader, the quantity of food available must be increased. Many students find themselves going without lunch, especially hot food, as there is simply nothing left to buy.

A method that worked successfully last year, was the ordering system (either online or before school) which allowed students to place lunch orders in advanced. This strategy would reduce the number of girls who go without a sufficient lunch and would decrease the long lines at both morning tea and lunch.

If you agree that the tuckshop prices should be lowered significantly, and there should be a broader variety of foods as well as a greater number of food available, please sign this petition.

previous tuck shop was run by volunteers and the wonderful Margo who oversaw everything. Why didn't have to be handed over to an overpriced and under portioned business? Comparisons of sushi rolls etc now to previous only serve to highlight this.

It is hard enough to pay to go to the school, and then having to pay excess amounts just for food too. We are school students. The majority of which don't have a job

I totally agree, just because the schools pricing is expensive doesn't mean they have to increase the pricing of the food to an unreasonable standard. A small bag of chips for $2.8 is really silly, when I could get a large bag of chips for that price. I bought something from the tuck-shop the other day for $3 and not knowingly it was old, gritty stale and made me feel sick. please improve your costing and your food tuck-shop. I would also like sushi to a reasonable price too, and a higher variety of food. thanks

The prices definitely need to be reduced, also as a vegetarian there is a extremely limited amount of food available that I can eat - very frustrating.

The prices of the tuckshop are very very expensive, and the availability of items is not great either, many days I have gone without lunch because I don't have enough money or because all the food has gone.
