Strip Buffy St Marie’s Juno for Indigenous Artist of the year 2018 and Give it to Kelly Fraser
In light of recent findings regarding Buffy Sainte-Marie's indigenous status and the revocation of her Order of Canada award, we are petitioning the Canadian Juno Awards to reconsider Buffy's 2018 award for Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year. We propose that this award be posthumously conferred upon nominee Kelly Fraser, who has since passed away. Had Kelly received this prestigious award, it would have significantly impacted her career and life trajectory. This honor would now serve as a tribute to her memory, benefiting her surviving family

Let’s not overlook the producer of Buffy St Marie’s juno winning album now works for the record label Kelly founded, Hitmakerz. He also wasn’t Canadian at the time the album won. Let’s make sure all the accolades go to Kelly and her family. Not those who use her for clout.
Kelly put so much work into her music and she actually lived her culture every day. It feels wrong that she didnt get that recognition back then.
This is a great opportunity to make things right
