A developer is asking the Chattanooga Regional Planning Agency for a variance to subdivide one lot into two. The lot is between High Ridge Drive and Peak Street and is right at the High Ridge Drive park entrance for Stringer's Ridge. Putting high density home sites next to the park - and cutting down trees and excavating home sites on a very steep slope - will have a dramatic effect on the existing historical neighborhood of modestly sized homes and on the experience of visitors at the park.
Opposition for this variance comes from a diverse group and includes nearby neighbors and property owners, park visitors, park volunteers, outdoor enthusiasts in general, and several outdoor clubs who worked hard to create an urban park for public enjoyment.
This petition affirmatively states opposition to the variance and requests the Chattanooga Regional Planning Agency deny the variance.

Stringers Ridge is gorgeous the way it is and other cities don't have anything like this natural place so close to downtown! Please don't ruin this incredible jewel by sticking houses in the middle of it. High Ridge is narrow and winding with lots of foot and bike traffic. It is not equipped to handle the extra auto traffic, with its noise and exhaust and residents who are driving in a hurry to get in and out. I live 2 miles from this park and walk the trails in the park as well as walk High Ridge Drive as much as 5 times a week to enjoy this beautiful and peaceful place. It would be a shame to destroy this incredible place forever by building these "out of place" homes. Thank you.
Reckless realtors trying to make money on fragile park entrance area using a road that has room for one car at a time.

I also live very close. It's a beautiful, tranquil area. Not a good location for a lot size variance. Against.
This will create major water run off issues for everyone down hill.
I live very close to this - downhill from it - and I absolutely oppose a variance for reduced lot lines.

Stringer's Ridge is an amazing place for people to quickly leave the city and be in a wonderful nature environment. The experience starts as you drive up High Ridge Drive and wind around the beautiful narrow road up to the top. What a disappointment it would be to arrive at the Trail Head and find two new houses crammed awkwardly together ruining the peacefulness of the area! No! No! No! Don't ruin the wonderful experience of Stringer's Ridge Park!
