A developer is asking the Chattanooga Regional Planning Agency for a variance to subdivide one lot into two. The lot is between High Ridge Drive and Peak Street and is right at the High Ridge Drive park entrance for Stringer's Ridge. Putting high density home sites next to the park - and cutting down trees and excavating home sites on a very steep slope - will have a dramatic effect on the existing historical neighborhood of modestly sized homes and on the experience of visitors at the park.

Opposition for this variance comes from a diverse group and includes nearby neighbors and property owners, park visitors, park volunteers, outdoor enthusiasts in general, and several outdoor clubs who worked hard to create an urban park for public enjoyment.

This petition affirmatively states opposition to the variance and requests the Chattanooga Regional Planning Agency deny the variance.
