Evidently, as the doctor performed the procedure at the instigation of one parent, both doctor and that parent should be censured. Also, the very idea that mutilating the genitals of un-consenting children is a religious rite needs addressing. Religion is a matter of the Spirit, not something to be chopped off the genitals of children.

Would we approve of a parent wanting the Appendix removed from their child because it may become infected in future years? Would we allow a parent to modify other parts of their childs body to please the parent? Why do we allow a parent to modify the private parts of their child? It is an invasion of the child's rights.

This is a barbaric procedure done without anaesthetic and causes untold damage to infants. Would the parents consent to cutting off any other part of their body ? Totally unnecessary procedure in this day and age

Barbaric!

My baby is due in January and, if we have a boy, my husband wants a circumcision based on his own religion. When I question him about it, he does not know why circumcision is encouraged in his religion, he is more concerned about what his family will say. I am against causing trauma and pain to an innocent child, should my child make that decision in the future then I wouldn't intervene. Reading more about the topic, came across this case and I am shocked and angry. Why too do not consent to have my child circumcised, why does a doctor think he has the right to make that decision on the behalf of a parent and an innocent child?

I wish I had been protected from this violation of my rights and mutilation of my body. Men who cut children, with consentfrom parents or not should be jailed. This man is no different than the monster who did this to me, only he has a petition for me to sign, so I sign it. Wake up, you tortured your children north America and we are angry..

Infant circumcision is ALWAYS done without consent. It is a practice that has long been understood to be a brutal, unethical assault on the most fragile among us. What Dr. Ahmed did was a gross violation of the children's basic human rights to bodily integrity. The Hippocratic Oath states "First do no harm." However, these children have irreparable damage due to the non-consensual amputation of functional, protective and highly sensitive cells.

He is guilty of a gross violation of Human Rights. The UK is signatory to the UN Convention On The Rights Of The Child which states clearly that nothing, not even the religion of the parents or any other adult can over ride the child's Right to bodily Integrity. This 'Dr' should be prosecuted.

Striking him off isn't enough. He should be charged with Grievous Bodily Harm – Wounding (with intent), and if found guilty, he should be imprisoned.

Circumcision is blood money!!!! It is cruel, barbaric and unnecessary!
