We the undersigned are aware that the Board of Education is contemplating alterations to the existing Magnet School enrollment process for Cincinnati Public Schools. As parents of children attending a very successful magnet school with exemplary levels of parental involvement we are concerned about the nature of these alterations and what form they might take. We request that you vote no on the implementation of a straight lottery system whose parameters and effects have not been adequately explored and discussed. Without due diligence, studied deliberation and data based investigation of the intended and unintended consequences of changing the process we fear that our school will be adversely affected. It is also germane to point out that the Magnet School program is not a homogeneous set of schools but a collection of diverse academic environments. An immutable district wide selection process may not fit all. Preservation of flexibility at the school level would best serve the interests of the district and its students as a whole. Respectfully,
