On May 27, 2009, the TCDSB at the community meeting at St. Pius X, advised that they did not have site plan approval from the City of Toronto, no building permits, no approval of funding from the Ministry of Education as of the above date. Until the above has been approved they cannot send the work to tender, which will take an additional 60 to 120 days. They have stated that they will be removing the portables starting at the end of June 2009, and start preparation work for construction. The TCDSB has stated that the students from Grades 4 to 6, and one class of Grade 7 will be bussed to alternate facilities (TBC) starting in September 2009. There is no guarantee that all plans and funding will be approved in time so that construction can begin in September 2009 and that a more realistic construction start date could be April/May or June of 2010. Construction will take at a minimum 12 to 15 months. We the undersigned, believe that it is in the best interest of our children/students that the TCDSB delay summer 2009 portable removal for St.Pius X school, until all plans and funding have been approved.
