Year-Round School changes the calendar, cutting the traditional summer vacation in half and scheduling 3 week breaks throughout the year. The number of days in the school year remains the same. Just some of the many disadvantages: YRS cost more to run; difficulty selling homes, resulting in decreased real estate values; children attend school in heat of the summer; children in different schools on different schedules; frequent breaks cause child care problems; divorced parents have to have custody agreements rewritten; sports, summer camps, etc. will suffer lost attendance; summer businesses will suffer lost revenues; FAMILY TIME WILL SUFFER.
