STOP THE TRAVELLERS' SITE AT FENNY LOCK
STOP THE TRAVELLERS’ SITE AT FENNY LOCK!!!!!
Many local people object to this site but now is your chance to do something about it
Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council have, from the outset, objected to all proposals to have a traveller’s site at Fenny Lock. In response to the ipetition by a NEWPORT PAGNELL Councillor, BLETCHLEY AND FENNY STRATFORD COUNCILLORS are inviting responses from local residents: in support of suspending work and the abolition of the Fenny Lock Travellers' Site This may be the final opportunity to put a stop to the site in this location and therefore, it is very important that you support the ipetition.
If you object to the travellers’ site at Fenny Lock please sign the petition below.
There is currently a further opportunity for you to put a stop to the site: In July 2011 the Milton Keynes Council Cabinet decided to suspend further development of the site pending the outcome of a review. The purpose of the review is to: • Consider if the project is good value for money; or • If other housing projects would give greater value for money. What can Milton Keynes Council spend the money on? The remaining funds allocated for the project can only be used for “capital spending” on housing. “Capital spending” broadly means money spent on acquiring or upgrading assets. So spending money on building new homes or refurbishing existing ones would count as capital spending. MK Council would like your views on the following options: 1) Continue with the Fenny Lock Gypsy and Traveller Site 2) Spend the money on getting more homes for those in need 3) Spend the money on improving council housing 4) A mix of the above options 5) None of the above but a different housing project A brief explanation of each of these options is provided in a Consultation Paper which you can download here:
http://www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/housing-strategy/documents/Fen_Lock_Consultation_Paper.doc
The consultation seeks views about which of the options you think Milton Keynes Council should spend its money on - What difference will it make if I get involved? Your views will help with the review of the project and will be considered by MK Cabinet when making their decision. The consultation period will run until 9th December 2011 and a report will then be submitted to the MK Cabinet in February 2012
Many local people object to the site at Fenny Lock but now is your chance to do something about it – we urge you to send a response to the Milton Keynes Council consultation and to fill in our ipetition on line.
