Fishers are solitary hunters, feeding mainly on small herbivores and omnivores such as mice, squirrels, shrews, and porcupines. They are the only predator to consistently hunt this quilled animal by repeatedly biting its face until it bleeds to death and turning it over and eating it from the belly in. Fishers also eat carrion of larger mammals such as deer. Fishers were reintroduced in much of North America to control porcupines. Attacks on domestic cats are documented, and now in the small town of Mallorytown, aswell as many other neighbouring towns, dozens of beloved family pets are being brutally mauled by these vicious creatures.
