***UPDATE****PARK FEES HAVE BEEN RESCINDED. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SIGNED!!!Starting on February 28, 2011 the Brevard County Department of Parks and Recreation will be charging $5 per car for parking at two popular beachside parks, Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach and Howard E. Futch Memorial Park at Paradise Beach in Indialantic. These are parks that are frequented by children, surfers and beachgoers of all ages. Through charging these fees, Brevard County is stating that the fees with pay for the costs of operating these two parks. We believe there are alternative ways to fund these two beloved Brevard beach parks. We are not supportive of this decision to charge parking fees. As parents, we want to continue bringing our children to these parks free of charge. As taxpayers, we want to continue to use these parks which our tax dollars have paid for. As surfers, we want to continue having free, full access to our ocean. As residents, we want to have our say. Stop the $5 per car parking fees!

The momentum behind this is incredible. We are showing the county that these parks belong to the public.

Finally some sense. These beach parks are for the community not for profit. Glad they listened.

Ridiculous. We already pay taxes for these parks. Stop trying to nickel and dime us for a day at the beach.

Total BS. I bring my kids here all the time and we shouldnt have to pay to use a public park. greedy county officials.
