WE, the undersigned of Metro Vancouver, are extremely concerned about the lack of responsibility shown by The Residential Tenancy Act, For Profit and Non-Profit Managment Companies, and various levels of govenment, about the growing bedbug infestation rates in rental housing, making what little housing stock available in Metro Vancouver uninhabitable. WE ARE Petitioning for stricter enforcement of Management compaines to deal with infestations properly (ie, not "cheap out" on DIY solutions, or only treat one unit instead of mulitples or the whole building), and for tenants innocently afflicted with infestations to be entitled to compensation for damaged furniture and cleaning costs. It is also responsibility of government to find an effective pesticide or other natural method to kill these bugs, once and for all.
