As many of you may know a 29 year old male employee of Target recently started an online petition due to the fact that he had to work on Thanksgiving. While I agree that corporations do take advantage of blue collar employees, I draw the line in areas where one takes a job in consumer retail and expects to not have to work on days when consumers shop for the holiday season. The company is already paying time and half for those hours worked and I know plenty of people who aren't as fortunate to even have jobs in this economy. I am sure that many would gladly accept working a few hours on a holiday to earn extra income. It is people like this who think they are entitled to benefits that haven't been earned. Suck it up, work your shift and support your family to the best of your abilities, work hard and get yourself promoted to a different position in the company that gets those days off, or get out of consumer retail. Sorry but I have to side with corporate america on this aspect and issue (which isn't a side I typically side with).
