Released Monday, 2/7/2011, Florida's Governor, Rick Scott proposed a new budget that will cut $3.3 BILLION dollars from the education budget...among other items.

How does he plan to do this? Gov. Scott says his budget will take away only $300 per student while news reports state it will actually come down to $700 per student (www.news-press.com).

While Scott claims his promise to not cut money to schools has been upheld on the state level, he does however, plan to cut out federal stimulus money.

Gov. Scott's claim to savings will be to require state employees, TEACHERS and other county service working employees to pump in 5% of their salaries into the retirement program…

I urge you to please SIGN THIS PETITION to STOP Governor Rick Scott from dismantling the education system of our state. We cannot let a Governor strip our children of the quality education they deserve!
