Gentrification causes residents to be driven out of their homes and forced to move elsewhere. The reason that is happening is because rent is getting more expensive which causes the people to move out. We chose this issue because this is one that needs to be discussed. This needs to be discussed because we need to figure out a way to upgrade neighborhoods and make them better without forcing people out and raising the cost of rent. We'd like the alderman to look into the issue if this petition is popular enough.

PLEASE STOP KICKING PEOPLE OUT. it is not progress if the people who built the community cant afford to live there anymore.
im sick of it. everywhere you look is another luxury building while the real residents are pushed out to the suburbs.
so tired of this. gentrification is killing the soul of the city.
they pretend they are fixing things up but they dont care about any of us. just money in their pockets.
rent control now. tired of seeing all these condos pop up while my neighbors are getting evicted.

my grandmother lived in this zip code for 40 years and now she cant even afford the grocery store down the street. this is wrong.
