By signing this petition, you are helping us to stop trawling of the inshore fishery, overfishing and waste, especially in the Hauraki Gulf. Every year, hundreds of tonnes of fish are taken illegally and killed. We need to stop this. We are not against fishing, we are keen fishermen and we would love to see our fish stocks in New Zealand rebuilt.

Contact us at either [email protected] or [email protected] for more information on overfishing or to ask questions. You can also check out LegaSea's website at https://www.legasea.co.nz You can also check out our Facebook page for regular updates! https://www.facebook.com/stopoverfishing420/

Thanks For Signing!

Just a heads up, please don't donate after you sign, just close the tab or click the back button. Commenting is also optional. If you do donate, it doesn't go to us, it goes to the iPetition website

35 years ago, people used to say snapper used to be caught close into the shore, but now, all you get are kawahi. Present day, you would be lucky to get any fish at all.

Yes I support seeing the trawlers further out to sea. We go fishing and there is nothing...just to discover that the trawler had been through a few days earlier. Go further out to sea and leave the inshore for the recreational fishermen.

I believe that the big boys need to stay out of our coastal waters. As already has been revieled MPI are letting them get away with illegal dumping of thousands of fish. The recreational fisherman are the only one looking out for our fisheries.

As a scuba dive instructor, protecting the inner shores is a core role of mine. The beauty and variety of fish life is a huge part of selling our industry. An industry that is environmentally friendly.

Wonderful that these young people are making a difference by promoting this petition. Because we can't look under the water, the public have no idea of the mess that's there and also how barren our sea floor is becoming because of inshore trawling.

This country is ridiculous about a lot of things and overfishing is another one. One of the commercial boats sits right on the Ruakaka river mouth. If they got any closer in they could stop in for a cuppa. We don't buy pilchards anymore in protest.

Stoping these guys so we can continue to fish in 2048! Save fishing as we know it... one fisherman at a time.
