Dear State Representatives and Senators,
We, the undersigned, hereby petition that you oppose any attempt to institute the unconstitutional measures contained the health overhaul act, officially titled "H.R.
4872 - Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation" and commonly known as "Obamacare" as well as any subsequent federal acts that violates the separation of powers as explicitly defined in the 10th Amendment.
Specifically, we, the undersigned, demand of each of you, as our designated representatives, that you endorse the Florida Health Care Freedom Act, introduced by State Senator Carey Baker. We, the undersigned, request that you not only endorse this act, but also openly support it in public forum.
We, the undersigned, further demand, that each legislator lends his or her utmost support to the lawsuit initiated by Attorney General Bill McCollum to protect the state from the above referenced incursion on state powers. We demand this as this action was taken on behalf of the state and as a measure to uphold the powers reserved to the states against federal encroachment. It does not matter whether or not you are supporters of Attorney General McCollum's gubernatorial bid, supporters of Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, State Senator Paula Dockery or any other announced or yet to be announced candidate. The constitutionality of this bill, its disastrous effect on patient choices, Florida's economy and more, is the sole issue at hand. We demand merely that you represent us, as you were elected to do so.
