STOP Achinoam Nini from performing at our Yom Haatzmaut celebration

I was born in Poland in 1944. Most of my family died in the camps. To have someone like this be invited as a speaker to a day celebrating Israel's independence day is disgraceful. There may be two sides to every story. Ms. Nini may be an appropriate panel member for a debate but she is definitely not an appropriate spokesperson for this event. I feel like a branch which is being cut off the tree. Please reconsider. Do not allow her to speak. Do not allow the Jewish community to become a forum for her views. If she speaks, then don't ever count on me to support the Federation or any of its projects.

The Federation should disinvite Noa and choose someone who supports Israel.

Who vetted the decision to use her in the first place? Is it not possible to expect our own to be at least somewhat supportive of the country who's independence is being celebrated.? The fact that this petition is necessary is bizarre to me.

Please cancel Achinoam Nini's Yom Haatzmaut event. By inviting her you are dividing our community on our special day of unity, Yom Haatma'ut.

There's so many people who are against the state of Israel. Those who create an atmosphere that is so advantageous to the Arabs and yet at the same time the yell that Israel should have a more level playing field. To invite this entertainer, especially for a day that celebrates the birth of Israel is one of the most horrible things I've ever heard. I and my family survived the holocaust and find this to be disgusting.

Can we please stop bashing Israel, just for one minute?

I find it unacceptable to have that supporter of shahids (suicidal murderers) and of shahada (martyrdom) sing here on Yom Atzmaut. She certainly will not sing for me, nor for any Zionist Israeli. She will disgrace Yom Atzmaut - which she and those whom she supports are referring to as the Naqba (the tragedy). I am therefore asking for an inquiry to find and to fire from their jobs those employees of the Israeli ministry of foreign affairs, of the Israeli embassy and of the Israeli consulate in Canada were responsible for the decision to fund and to sponsor this trip and concert of Achinoam Nini (Noa) here in Vancouver.

She is an utter disgrace to Judaism and to Israel and should not be going to Canada whatsoever as she is not fit to perform as a tribute to Yom Haatzmaut and to Israel a country she clearly despises.
