Most councils don't request licence, why Newham? the tenants are the final bill payers for these licence fee ( included in rental fee)

It's a disgrace that Newham is targeting honest landlords and disguising them as rogue landlords. Property Licence can never guarantee properties will raise standards, but it's guaranteed to raise money for Newham and raise burden for honest landlords. I urge all landlords and tenants to join this cause.

Ghe licence is nonsence . Asbo should be dealt with by authorities not private landlords that worked hard to buy second properties to provide rented accommodation and fill the rental gap where councils can't. Its jyst another money making machine. What about the road potholes in Newham who will fill them in . I live 10 years in Newgam and local roads are shambles.

This sceme doesn't tackle anti social behaviour. Its simply enforced to drive out the migrant community who cannot afford to rent whole houses and stay in rooms. Absolutely disgraceful.

Completely Crazy. Yes there are some bad landlord out there but there's mostly good ones.
They keep saying 'Good landlords have nothing to fear...' but theyre' still paying the tax + they're not giving anymore license any more.
Finally, there's a clear over shortage of properties in London and this is clearly making it difficult to rent a room now...
What are they thinking?

Newham council have clearly set this scheme up to extort as they have not done anything whatsoever to further the case of protecting tenants or monitoring landlords since collecting money over 2 years ago. What a shame!

Licensing is totally and utterly crazy - it defeats the whole object and will eventually prohibit Landlords from renting out. It just makes the whole process untenable.
