LOST or The Law of the Sea Treaty will introduce international legal complications to the US Navy regarding national security missions. The treaty includes no provision against ships transporting WMD or terrorists to rouge states. It will also complicate deep sea mining, offshore fishing, and would require the US to give the UN Seabed Authority half of our royalties from offshore mining and oil drilling. A legal framework would also be created to reduce “thermal pollution” of the oceans. New international bureaucracies would be created to interpret and apply a wide range of rules for the sea, and proceed with those rules despite objections by the United States. This treaty will create a backdoor to cap and trade and threatens our American economy, homeland security, and power as a nation. IT MUST BE STOPPED.
