As a patriotic American, I am excited about the wonderful energy generated by the Democratic candidates for President. However, I am disappointed that Barack Obama injected race into this election. I believe that it is 100% appropriate for any candidate, white, black or Hispanic, male or female, to compare him or herself to historical figures, such as the great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and John F. Kennedy. Similarly, I believe it is 100% appropriate for a candidate to evoke the names of these great leaders for the purpose of inspiring people to vote for him/her. However, I also believe that it is 100% appropriate, that if you do so, other candidates should be free to draw distinctions between you and the historical figures whose names you invoke to promote your candidacy. I believe it is NOT racist, or derogatory toward Dr. King, for a candidate to say that Mr. Obama\'s accomplishments do not match those of Dr. King\'s. I also believe it is NOT racist to argue that Mr. Obama\'s position on the war in Iraq has been inconsistent by calling his claims of consistent opposition "a fairy tale." I believe it is wrong for Mr. Obama to suggest otherwise and call upon him to apologize to America for playing the race card and to return to a discussion of the issues.
