We the undersigned request that all major Sacramento media outlets stop the practice of allowing anonymous comments on their web sites. Anonymous posters routinely sabotage discussion threads by posting racist, sexist, anti religious, anti homosexual, and other offensive and abusive material that only destroys the quality of sensible debate, and exponentially thwarts progress by alienating otherwise valuable contributors. Web sites across the internet are now beginning to require telephone verification, FaceBook accounts, and many other identity verifying techniques to STOP the damage anonymity is causing to their companies and customers, and we believe Sacramento media outlets should lead the way and do the same here in Sacramento.
