This petition is in the interest of stopping the proposed HS2 train link between London and Birmingham. The proposed route will only decrease the travel time by 35 minutes from 1 hour and 24 minutes on the current system. It will cost between 17 and 18 billion pounds, whereas the government could update the existing system for 2 billion pounds. The governmnet is making large cuts (which are neccessary in the current economic climate), yet are spending on this project of extreme vanity, rather than efficiency.
Absolute waste of money when the current lines are falling apart. Fix the old trains first instead of wasting billions on a vanity project nobody asked for.
