I belive that they should not let the oil drilling happen in New Zealand because it would totally wipe out our tourists and also ruin our beaches and sea life, If a spill did occur new zealand would not be able to cope with a spill, The gulf of mexico rig had more boats than us which were also larger and it took them 3 months to close the pipe, so imagine how long it would take for us to repair the pipe, the proposed oil rig is also 2x the size of the one in the gulf of mexico so 2x deeper, this would ruin new zealand’s tourism industry so we would loose quite a bit of money. It would kill thousands of sea life and ruin people’s lives, like people who fish for a job they would have no income, the kaikoura dolphin and whale watching would die as the whales and dolphins would die and their beaches would be ruined by oil and the spill of oil, and not to mention not being able to take your dog for a walk along the beach as if your dog accidentally ate some oil it would get very sick. You wouldn’t be able to so to the beach and swim or surf. I believe that we should not let Anadarko come and drill in New Zealand.
