We petition the City of Campbell to abandon the current DAAP and to work with the community to create a new plan with reduced intensity of development; to remove DAAP-WEST from the DAAP plan entirely and to work with the community to create new guidelines for this area which is part of the STANP, the San Tomas Area Neighborhood Plan.

--------------------------------------

The City of Campbell has proposed the Dell Avenue Area Plan (DAAP), the largest development plan in the history of Campbell. This plan proposes to redevelop the industrial area around Dell Avenue by removing ALL existing businesses and replacing them with new industrial office buildings 65’ and higher. No more Kaiser Hospital, Dell Post Office, or thriving small businesses and American Legion Hall. Along the opposite side of Winchester they plan to remove the Pizza parlor, and the auto repair shops and other small businesses and build a 300 unit mixed use complex overlooking the existing residential neighborhood.

You think traffic is bad now? Wait until over 10,000 new people are driving down Winchester in this small area to work, and enjoy the new restaurants, amphitheater, and attractions along our Los Gatos Creek Trail “waterfront”.

To see the community response to this plan, go to the STACC Web site at : http://www.staccna.org
Look in the Pages & Links tab under DAAP and DAAP WEST and DEIR.

The Environment Impact Report for the DAAP (the DEIR) details the potential impact of this proposed plan and development. This development will create unacceptable levels of increased traffic at all major intersections from Hamilton down to Blossom Hill Blvd, as well as other negative impacts on the percolation ponds and the natural resources of the Los Gatos Creek Trail.
