Stop Brumby Running in The Alpine National Park
The undersigned hereby request that all Brumby running in the Alpine National Park, Vic, be banned from the new Greater Alpine Parks Management Plan. The inhumane treatment that we believe many Brumbies suffer during and after their capture via Brumby running is, in our view, unacceptable and contrary to the RSPCA Australian Animal Charter. We believe that passive trapping, using salt or other bait to lure Brumbies into traps is the best available method for capturing Brumbies and most efficient and economical way for Parks Victoria to achieve its stated objectives under the Greater Alpine Parks Management Plan. We also encourage Parks Victoria to undertake a trial of PZP, a treatment which affects the fertility of Brumbies without altering their natural behaviour.
