"Appalachian Power had requested thirteen separate rate increases since 2005. In December, APCo received two rate increases: a 12.2 percent increase in the base rate and a 2.7 percent increase for transmission charges, raising residential electric bills an average of 15.5 percent. "

My electric bill averaged about $100 higher than it should have been for the amount of kilowatt hours used in our home this past month. With no warning from the company that claims to care about its customers, we were hit by this increase at a time where we need our money most! A rate increase in December, a month where heating cost is highest? Right after Christmas & during a recession?! I was already expecting my bill to double this month due to heating charges. An extra $100 on top of that makes my electric bill nearly as much as my rent. Offers to split payments between 2-3 months is not at all helpful as we would still recieve $250-$300 bills in the mail! Don't let this power company hold all of the POWER over us! Join this group so I can link the page to the governer & the SCC! We must stop this! No one should have to choose between heating their home & paying their rent!!!!
