I oppose this policy and glad my 2 VB educated children are long out of the system. I watched the VB School Board meeting where Dr, Spence states that they want to “turn over every rock” to see if there isn’t something the School System could ibn order to help certain groups of students. I would suggest there is a big difference between self-assessment and evaluation based on valid data, and what appears to be validating an already inserted curricula based on questionable scholarly research. Finally, I would offer after spending several years teaching in a local high school, that a teacher’s personal politics and cultural biases have no place in the classroom.

As a retired teacher from Virginia Beach it is appalling to me that educators and students are being forced to comply with this indoctrination. I worked in predominantly at risk schools defined as such because of the low socioeconomic status of the student population this is determined or was at the time by the number of free and or reduced breakfast and lunches provided and by what was reported on the federal cards that were turned in. What should be understood is what typically keeps these students at a disadvantage is not race as I taught white , black , Latino and occasionally Asian students it is that there is a limited structure if any in the home … these students typically did not have any reinforcement of the skills math, reading , science and social studies . Schools should be focused on paying teachers higher saleries, investing in after school study programs and promoting STEM curriculum. These skills will lead students out of low income jobs when they are adults and promote independence, self sufficient adults . A much happier individual one who is not reliant on the government for handouts rather themselves for providing for their and their families! They will be free to live as THEY choose , not how they are told to . Teaching people how to “feel” I.e social justice and critical race theory is absolutely designed to divide our nation and condemn our students to poverty and governance by the fee! There is no individual choice !

CRT and anything based on the 1619 project (which has been shown to be full of lies and misrepresentations by a large group of historians) should NOT be in VB schools! I am completely against this and will consider other education options for my children should it continue.

Systemic racism only resides with leftist news media. It fuels their narrative.

This is a racist theory which further divides our country rather than unites.

Keep the golden rule in school. Critical Race THEORY.... is not proven. It's a theory.

Don't change what isn't broken. And don't tell lies to our children about Virginian and their past .

Just as teachers, administrators and people outside of schools say that there are things school shouldn’t be responsible for and that is a parent’s job-this I believe is one of those things. My kids have grown up learning to respect everyone no matter what and they have done just fine. I don’t want any more instructional time to be diverted to things like this.
