By now, most people have heard of the recent case of the Michigan teen (Deven Guilford) that was fatally shot during a traffic stop. If you have not, Google Eaton County Michigan Teen Shot and you can read many articles concerning it.

What starts as a traffic stop for flashing high beams at an officer, escalates completely out of control with the teens refusal to give the office his driver’s license and insurance information. When asked for his DL, Deven replied, “Have I committed a crime?” He also proceeds to start videotaping the encounter and asking the officer for his badge number.

What happened after this was tragic and needs not be repeated at this time.

Right now, if you go to YouTube and search for keywords such as Cop Block, Cop Prank or Schooling the Police, you will find countless videos of people antagonizing police officers for fun and games. Some of which include some of the same, exact lines used by young Deven during his traffic stop. These people posting videos are encouraging others to do the same.

Being a Police officer is stressful enough without these young people pestering them for views on YouTube.

Granted, there are some police that do use excessive force and do not follow proper procedure. Then again, there are good cops just trying to do their job and keep people safe that have this type of thing to deal with on a daily basis.

Knowing your rights and exercising them is commendable, but some of these instances cross the line to ridiculous.

With all these videos circulating, getting as many views as they do, this is assisting with this national disrespect of our countries police and sheriff’s officers.

This petition has been created to urge YouTube to remove any video that promotes the shaming, pranking and disrespect of any law enforcement officer.

Your child may be the next one influenced by these people and come to a tragic end like young Deven.
