We have a wonderful, friendly community in the Waverley Council area, and the council should be encouraging us to meet our neighbours and also to recycle our unwanted belongings. Anyone setting up a garage/yard sale on the lawn outside their apartment gets told to pack up immediately or be subject to a council fine.
They say this is because items on the grass outside our homes could be a public liability or tripping hazard...
However, I personally had a terrible fall on Bondi Rd where there was a pothole in the footpath and after sending the Waverley Council photographs of my injuries, the pothole and my medical bills... they offered no help and accepted no responsibility.
If you fell that you should be able to have a yard sale on the street front outside your residence please sign the petition to let Waverley Council know.
