Virginia Paving fills the west end of Cameron Station and the surrounding area with noise, noxious gasses, and heavy truck traffic, all of which negatively affect quality of life here.

Let's get Va. Paving closed as soon as possible. It's time that the residents of the West End and surrounding areas were not negatively impacted by their production of toxins.

The West End, with both its development plan and clear progress towards it, no longer has an appropriate place for heavy industrial use. It is clearly time and past time for the closure of the Virginia Paving Asphalt Plant and allow for other progress to support the development of this area for the betterment of the West End.

I am an Cameron Station resident who supports City Staff’s determination that Virginia Paving’s heavy industrial use at its asphalt plant located at 5601 & 5603 Courtney Avenue and 720, 730 & 750 South Van Dorn Street in Alexandria (“Virginia Paving”) is inconsistent with the Eisenhower West Small Area Plan and with the ensuing and foreseeable development and redevelopment in the West End of Alexandria. I am both encouraged and supportive of the redevelopment efforts that have taken place (and continue to form) for the West End of Alexandria.

I support the recommendation to close the plant.

It is time to consider the health and welfare of those residents exposed to this facility.

As a Cameron Station resident, I am both encouraged and supportive of the redevelopment efforts that have taken place (and continue to form) for the West End of Alexandria. The continuation of operations by Virginia Paving at its current location off Van Dorn Street is inconsistent with these long-term development plans and I support the conclusions previously stated by City staff regarding its relocation.

When the plant is operating and the wind bows my way, the smell is awful.
