We are witnessing a dangerous pattern of federal power being used as a tool of intimidation — from ICE’s escalating tactics in our communities to the administration’s hostile posture toward Denmark and Greenland, both NATO allies. This must stop.

We, the residents of New York’s 1st and 2nd Congressional Districts, call for immediate action to rein in ICE’s excessive force, banned restraints, and lack of transparency. ICE is being deployed without coordination, outnumbering local police, and operating with growing impunity. If it cannot function with accountability and humanity, it must be abolished.

This domestic overreach mirrors the administration’s aggressive behavior toward our allies. Threats toward Denmark and Greenland undermine NATO commitments and weaken American leadership. Federal power should never be used to intimidate immigrant communities at home or democratic partners abroad.

We demand the following actions from our congressional representatives:

• Enforce strict rules of engagement to prevent unnecessary escalation

• Establish real consequences for misuse of force

• Require body cameras on all ICE agents

• Launch a full investigation into extremist affiliations within ICE recruitment

• Conduct an independent investigation into the killing of René Good

• Reaffirm U.S. commitments to NATO, including respect for Denmark and Greenland as essential partners

Federal enforcement and foreign policy must reflect transparency, accountability, and basic decency. Our communities — and our allies — deserve safety, cooperation, and respect.

We urge our representatives to act now to stop this pattern of hostility.
