Stop Traffic Lights at Days and Kedron Brook Intersection

Construction is well in hand now. The irony of this; Construction Day 1 (removal of the original roundabout) BCC replaced it with a 'temporary' roundabout. They resealed the whole intersection last weekend and reinstalled the 'temporary' roundabout, again. No temporary lights just the roundabout. Working fine 24/7. The "penny has not dropped" yet???????

I drive this way to work and it is a safe, smooth journey. Traffic lights here would cause congestion and unnecessary frustration for drivers

Not necessary and harmful to local businesses

Having to drive through the roundabout each morning and night, it allows the traffic to flow smoothly, therefore see no reason to change. Leave as is!

They also plan to ban an all parking on Kedron Brook Road and remove the two parking spaces outside the shops on Days Rd and add a bike lane which will have a negative impact on the small business operators on Days Road and Kedron Brook Rd. It also appears that cyclists will be forced to ride head on into traffic as well as other cyclists when they exit Uxbridge St. They will have to turn right onto Days Road and travel down to the lights on the wrong side of the road. Who's to blame if a cyclist is hit by an oncoming car? The cyclist? The driver? Or the council? And for all the residents in Jean Street and Eight Avenue they will be subject to higher volumes of traffic as a new rat run will emerge when motorists try to avoid the lights by weaving their way down Eight Ave through York Street to reconnect with Kedron Brook Rd and avoid the backed up traffic along Kedron Brook Rd and Days Rd. Pedestrian and cyclist safety appears to be high on the council agenda, but in the Council's 2015 Traffic Study of the area shows roundabout was designated a yellow zone with less than 3 traffic incidents or an zero pedestrian incidents. The roundabout was rated a low priority in the study, but cited poor safety. Compare this to all the Red Zones in the area which represent 9 or more traffic incidents. Most traffic light locations in the area represent the Red Zones. For some unexplained reason the roundabout was upgraded to a high priority and the commencement date to start works has been moved forward from 2019 to mid 2018. An alternative to the lights are calming bumps and zebra crossings which could maintain the flow of traffic and address pedestrian and cyclist safety and significantly reduce the planned $4 million budgeted for this project.

I think that we need to slow down and have another look at more options, it’s probably a great idea if your driving through but for the small business’s and the local people it does not work.

The existing roundabout works well especially during peak traffic times. The removal of the car parking in front of the shops on Days road will make it harder for the businesses there to attract customers. Off peak times will also be impacted with the addition of the new traffic lights by significantly slowing through traffic.

The roundabout works fine. We don't need to encourage more traffic into the middle of suburbia. There are 2 large primary schools and 2 Early Child Care Centres within 500m of the proposed intersection.

Leave it as it is. The change will not only make it dangerous but also affect parking for the small businesses along this road

The lights will create more problems than solutions.

How about spending the money on redirecting traffic away from residential areas and improving traffic flow along the major roads (Shand, Enoggera, Lutwyche Rds) and create more tunnels to better prepare for future population growth. The increased traffic light installations are encouraging rat runs, which are now becoming major thoroughfares through residential areas. e.g. the Lamont Road traffic light installation has seen additional cars down nearby streets and past our local primary schools, as well as more traffic incidents on Newmarket Road. Why not install pedestrian crossings at the Days Road and Kedron Brook intersection to improve safety? Simpler solutions are often the best. Given multiple people had suggested a 'turn left only' at the end of Lamont Road and also for exiting the childcare centre, as well as a 'no right turn' into Lamont Road off Newmarket Road during peak hour, it appears the Councillors are obsessed with traffic light installation and there are many more to come which will destroy our Wilston Village and ruin businesses :(

What a waste of money, time and resources.

It will interupt local businesses.

Council should stop squandering people's money. The roundabout works well and lights would require more maintenance and interrupt traffic flow. Not to mention that power is costing more and more and us, taxpayers, would incur the cost through rates that you will no doubt increase to cover the running cost and the work involved in getting rid of the roundabout and inst. the lights.

Lights unnecessary will stop tragic flow and why use power to do some thing which a roundabout achieves more effectively anyway!No power costs and less maintenance!
