The proposal to widen Chenoweth seeks to address a problem that simply does not exist and doing so will create problems, especially for pedestrians and bicyclists. This is ill-conceived and dangerous.

Please drop the proposal to widen Chenoweth Lane. There is no upside to adding a third lane. Such a project would be disruptive, increase speeds along the corridor, and create more hazards for pedestrians and bicyclists.

This would greatly impact the walk ability of our neighborhood, making it less pedestrian friendly and therefore less family friendly; not to mention the destruction of beautiful trees. The city of St. Matthews should not allow this to happen.

Widening will lower property values of both sides of the street, significantly affect health of the environment (fewer trees to absorb contaminants) & residents; prohibit safe walking & the Metro government's paradigm of encouraging exercise; prohibits those of us who WALK to Paul's grocery, Heine Bros,etc. & stroll babies, exactly the universal encouragement of the City!

The focus upon traffic should be to improve safety and preserve the (our) neighborhoods. This poorly conceived plan improves neither. Indeed this plan would increase traffic, increase the speed of the traffic and make the area unsafe for the residents.

Please DO NOT widen Chenoweth Lane. Our home is right on the street and the noise, safely and value of this area would be greatly diminished. I also believe that the average speed people would travel would increase even more as well.

The road is easily driven at all times of day. The traffic does not warrant additional lanes. Widening the road would increase speed, destroy the beauty of the street and remove accessibility for walkers. There is no reason to widen Chenoweth Lane.

The neighborhoods of Chenoweth Lane and surrounding neighborhood streets make up a community which includes many walkers and bicycle riders. There are also a number of people who use mobility scooters or wheelchairs to enjoy an outing. Many small businesses within easy walking and biking distance, include banks, pharmacies, medical and dental offices, restaurant venues, hardware stores, grocery/produce businesses, hair salons, learning opportunities, fitness centers, etc. Parking is somewhat limited so it is understandable that many patrons prefer to walk. The tree lined streets with beautiful green space and landscaping provide a great environment for an evening walk/biking outing with family, strolling babies or grandbabies, or meeting friends for daily shared exercise and conversations. The best way to improve Chenoweth Lane in my mind would be with the addition of safe biking lanes and sidewalks on both sides of the street. Traffic has no problem passing through this one mile corridor except when stopped by long traffic light cycle on each end of the corridor or a long train near Shelbyville Road. A turning lane will certainly do nothing to solve these necessary delays.
