Stop the widening of Chenoweth Lane

My family have lived on Chenoweth Lane for over 80 years. We love this neighborhood and feel widening Chenoweth Lane will be devastating!!!! Please don't do it!

I do not think we should lose the canopy of trees . It would destroy the feel of this area. Part of the charm of St Matthews is that it has not become an area of wide, busy streets.

No to widening. Even during school drop-off and pick-up times, as well as the 5-6pm hour, I never have a problem with congestion. I might wait an extra 30 seconds - 1 minute more during the worst of it, but I use that time to enjoy and admire the beautiful trees and peaceful neighborhood!

The speed of traffic when my wife and I cross is bad! With a center turn lane it would flow non stop and walkers like us would be crushed!

This is the dumbest idea I have ever heard of - I respectfully disagree with it.

No problem getting onto or off of Chenoweth. Use at all times day and night. Complete waste of money and harm to the charm of the area, traffic volume, sidewalk use, and homeowners in all the surrounding area. Agree with Mr. Grumley's comments.

I live near Trinity High, and utilize Chenoweth often, and have no understanding of what changes to the road need to be made.

This not only affects st matthews and that neighborhood but also surrounding traffic patterns to other neighbors in the community.

Chenoweth Lane needs to be left alone. Minor improvements such as repair and completion of existing sidewalks, adding crosswalks, correcting drainage issues, and repairing utility poles are the priority. Any VISUAL widening, such as moving trees, mailboxes, utility poles, or the like will INCREASE vehicle speed and endanger all other street users. Certainly, a center turn lane, widened lanes -- even bike lanes and widened sidewalks, unfortunately -- will also create a PHYSICAL (and visual) widening, and higher speeds will result. (A compromise might be a shared-use path -- but NOT if utility poles and trees are moved back -- they need to remain in place to separate from vehicular traffic and prevent visual widening of the roadway.)

I'm a resident of a dead end street that is dependent upon Chenoweth Lane to enter or exit from my home from either direction. The proposal to add an additional lane would magnify the safety issues that already exist along the corridor as well as further impede the egress and ingress residents have to their homes. The existing wait times to enter the traffic flow in either direction would increase by allowing traffic to continue without on either side of a turning lane without being forced to stop. Their fine there by limiting opportunities to turn. It would also clearly create an opportunity for miss use of this lane for speeding and passing purposes. I sincerely request that this proposed project be rejected and or at the very least postponed. Just because you have a federal grant that's going to expire doesn't mean that you have to use it.

I am opposed to any widening of Chenoweth Lane. A widening would dramatically cut down the yard space of the homes fronting Chenoweth Lane. Moreover, I'm not sure how it would practically work. If there is no easement, then the state would have to initiate an eminent domain proceeding, resulting in appraisal fees and potential litigation if appraisals for specific properties were conflicting. I think that the state's resources would be better put to use on more constructive solutions besides widening--perhaps sequence timing of the stoplights and/or the addition of another

More lane are not needed. I have lived on Chenoweth Lane for 35 years.

I have lived in the Chenoweth Lane/Brownsboro Rd. area since I was a child, over 50 years. I drive Chenoweth Lane multiple times a day every day of the year. There is rarely, if ever, a backup of traffic. If there is a train blocking the intersection near the tracks, the line of cars and the delay are minimal. I actually love the ambiance of the train, and the restful two-lane road linking busy Shelbyville Rd. and Brownsboro Rd. There is a much-used sidewalk extending the length of Chenoweth Lane which is used constantly by people of all ages. We do not need any changes to this stretch of road. Chenoweth Lane lies adjacent to nine side streets on the eastern side. These comprise a large, quiet area of homes whose residents span all age groups- newly married, middle aged and elderly. On the west side of Chenoweth are many older condominium units which are home to many elderly , though active, residents. We do not need a wider Chenoweth Lane which would result in more traffic which in turn would cause more difficulty for the residents on the west side to cross over to use the sidewalk on the east side. Furthermore, any change to the existing two-lanes would be the beginning of the "creeping factor" of developmental changes which inevitably occur once the first change is made. Leave this wonderful street alone! We have plenty of adequate thoroughfares serving the area with Brownsboro Rd. and Shelbyville Rd. moving traffic east and west efficiently to reach the commercial areas and the expressways. There is absolutely no reason to tamper with Chenoweth Lane. Kentucky Highway Department, please find something else to do with your time besides ruining a lovely street.

my family walks down chenoweth's sidewalk everyday...please do not widen it..this will increase traffic and make it more dangerous...chenoweth is a neighborhood street!!!

Keep Chenoweth Lane a neighborhood street.

Do not widen this road! Slow the traffic through Chenowith Lane. Stop signs and Speed bumps please.

This is a VERY bad idea! We do not need this as a major through way between these roads
