The government has finally announced the end of the badger cull. This outcome shows that persistence and reliance on scientific evidence can change the course of wildlife policy. We must remain attentive to ensure these humane alternatives are fully implemented in the years ahead.

We, the undersigned, call on the UK government to stop the planned cull of badgers on the following grounds: ·

1) Over 70% of the badger population in large areas of the United Kingdom will be killed, many of them healthy.

2) The method of free-shooting badgers can cause severe injury to many thousands of badgers.

3) Independent scientific studies have shown that culling would be of little help in reducing bovine TB (bTB), and even suggest that it could make things worse in some areas.

We urge the UK government to stop the cull and implement the more sustainable and humane solution of both a vaccination programme for badgers and cattle, along with improved testing and biosecurity.

2016 is the year planned for badger culls to be extended into more counties. This is unacceptable, inhumane and barbaric, especially as bTB will not be controlled or contained by the slaughter of this iconic wildlife species.

1) UK still using SICCT which does not pick up all infections 2) Paterson used misleading information re Ireland's cull to push a cull in the UK 3) bTB was reducing in areas without culling eg Dorset 4) there is no proof that the cull works 5) this is being caused by undetected infected cattle passing on to other cattle and cattle movement STOP THE CULL AND VACCINATE

As a biologist I can confirm that slaughtering badgers is totally UNETHICAL and intolerable in this country!

Please stop the cull of badgers. Bovine TB is due to transmission between cattle, movement of cattle in UK, intensive animal industry and over use and inappropriate use of antibiotics.

The British Vetinary Association have stated that they DO NOT support the free shooting of badgers. Thic cull is politically driven to appease the NFU.

Science shows that culling badgers does not help in the fight against Bovine TB. It is expensive and often leads to a cruel, slow death of these innocent creatures.

Badgers are victims of BTb. This Government are killing them because they are the cheaper option rather than laying to blame where it belongs and making Farmers introduce a strict Bio Security programme.

STOP! STOP! and STOP! The slaughtering of these animals. What is wrong with you people? Soon there won't be any Badgers left in England and then a new crop of problems will occur. Please re-think your murderous actions and leave these animals ALONE.....
