Stop the Tribal Trails & South Park Loop Connector Road

Another band-aid. Where is the thinking ahead process? If you expand all the roads into and out of town will that be enough??? If you build out to the limit...then what??? If you practice open market to any and all business ventures , then what??? I suppose you could begin scraping away the mountains to make room for everyone. Then what??? More Jackson tenements and Snow King Circus attractions??? Or everyone commuting from somewhere else and letting the businesses line up from one end of town to the other??? No cars. Bus people into town. Then just bus, bike, or walk. Think of the money to be made? So much money! Come one. Come all... to empty your pockets in paradise.

I am concerned for the safety and peaceful existence of my children and grandchildren whose home is on the proposed route.

There are far too many children in dense neighborhoods for this to be a safe solution. Not to mention school traffic as well. Please, no.

If You Build A Road, They Will Abuse It The cut-off known as the Tribal Trails Connector will threaten neighborhoods and schools along High School Road and South Park Loop Road. There are many major concerns that mitigation like speed limits and traffic calming won’t fix. A few years back my neighbors and I attended a question and answer meeting on the High School Road traffic study. It was asked how much commercial traffic would use the Tribal Trails Connector from the Gregory Lane light industrial complex at High School Road. The officials said they didn’t know. Now that the Gregory Lane light industrial complex is targeted for more density, there will be even more uncounted commercial traffic flowing through our neighborhoods to get to and from the West Bank areas if the connector is built. There is only one road in and out of the Cottonwood Park neighborhood and that is Corner Creek Lane, off of High School Road. It is already hard to get on to High School Road from that neighborhood during the morning and afternoon school traffic rush. When the South Park Loop Road bridge was closed to traffic because of construction, High School Road became congested with commercial and commuter traffic increasing the length and duration of the backups that already plague High School Road from the stop light at Highway 89. The increased traffic also led to Rangeview Drive being used as a mini cutoff to avoid the corner at High School Road and South Park Loop Road when cars were lined up at the stop sign. School students and other local drivers know the shortcuts and won’t hesitate to use Rangeview Drive as a cutoff if the connector is built, ignoring neighborhood speed limits and flying over speed bumps. Tourists trying to get to Smith’s and Jackson Whole Grocer from Teton Village will use their less than trustworthy GPS to find the shortest route using the neighborhood roads as shortcuts or getting lost in the neighborhoods trying. I truly believe this is a bad idea! All that traffic into our school and athletic areas, this is not for the safety of the public. Let's redo the "Y" intersection first. Save the integrity of the South Park neighborhoods. Adding more traffic to this area will only cause problems for these neighborhoods. The "Y" should be addressed first. Increase the timing of the lights at the Y to allow more cars to go through at one time. 5 to 6 times two lanes is not enough at 5pm.....

Teton County Residents Fix the Y first! This road would have a devastating affect on wildlife! Not counting property values and our way of life!

No tribal trails connector. Protect the school children.

I am a Teton county resident and I am strongly against building this road thru the existing neighborhood . Sure a redesign of the Y is a much better solution.

Pls increase and consider more PUBLIC transportation before adding more traffic. We cannot decrease traffic by adding more streets...the ONLY way to fix this problem is too ADD more public transportation.

There is not a backlog of traffic coming down South Park Loop Rd that needs to "bypass" the Y. Most of the Y traffic during Jackson's "rush hour" at 5:30 comes from downtown. It's heading west to Wilson and Idaho. It's short-lived. Also, Commissioner Don Frank says we need it to create "redundancy" or another way to bypass the Y in the event of a catastrophic accident. The gated neighborhood of Indians Springs Ranch has already spoken out and confirmed that they would open their gates to bypass the Y if that happened. In all the years that I have lived in Jackson I don't ever remember this happening.

No to TT connector!

I am opposed. Many have already clearly outlined the many reasons why rival Trails is a bad idea so I will not repeat here.

I think the Y intersection should be improved and there should be no Tribal Trails connector through school zones and residential neighborhoods.

Change the Y

Too many school children. If Tribal Trails goes through, South Park Loop will be a main highway to route 89. Road bumps and 25 mph speed limit will have to be established if road goes through for the safety of the children and neighborhood traffic entering South Park Loop.
