Sage as the Director of this program I would love to know who is giving you this information because it's all false. This program is not ran by the city, its a faith base 501c3. Absolutely No sex offenders are allowed because it is a family home! Drug addicts are not allowed. I am a pastor in the community and Police Chaplin, we have set very high standards for this ministry. I would love to sit down over a cup coffee and go over the ministry. I assure none of the information being fed to you is accurate if it were so I would pull the plug myself. This is a very unique ministry where community of faith is coming together with local government. This is a home for families!

With respect to those who say this project is safe and needed.... volunteer the house next door to YOU! Many of us here "on the outside of town" as it's been referred to, have children who stand alone at a bus stop just feet from this property. City confirmed that it is possible that a Sex Offender or Drug Addict could stay up to 60 days... walking by our homes every time they go to the store. Charity and compassion for strangers are admirable qualities, but they come second to my childrens safety.

*This was written by one of our RPD Chaplains in regards to this petition....Hope this helps to clarify the information you've been given. In regards to the Petition going around town to STOP THE TRANSITIONAL HOUSE IN REEDLEY i would like to enlighten you. #1 This is not a drug rehab, men's home, or women's home, it is modeled after OpenGate Ministries in Dinuba, it is for displaced families in "our community " as a Chaplain we often encounter families that loose their house do to fires, get laid off or just going through a hard time. #2 The home will also continue to be a safe haven for victims of violent crimes. #3 All occupants will go through a back ground check and must have a minimum of 90 days clean and sober. We use the word transitional because occupants stay will be short term, transitioning from becoming homeless to getting back on their feet. We would love to sit down with anyone that has any concerns in regards to the Hope Now House!

If you read carefully, the original comment stated that it will "modeled after" the ministry in Dinuba. Not "affiliated with".

Concentrate on helping businessed come to Reedley, not criminals.

I agree with the majority... Reedley does NOT need this type of housing, especially right next to a nice residential neighborhood filled with children. If this is affiliated with a Dinuba ministry, they should place this facility in Dinuba.

As the director of this program I would like to share some insight, yes the Grant we received was for a re-entry program "for women" we applied for the Grant on the basis of our original mission statement which did not include re-entry clients. Our primary focus is on the Whole Family Structue, and helping families within our community that are in need. I'm a third generation Reedleyite and would never be on board with a program that would bring riff raff in our community. This program has been vetted by leaders in our community along with city officials and Police Department. There is a great need for a house like this in Reedley because often when we encounter families that have been displaced we have to refer them to homeless shelters in Fresno. This is a way Reedley can take of its own.

I am very familiar with this transitional housing and those working on the project. It is not for ex-cons! First of all it is on the edge of town going into the country. It was set up when we lost housing for the Majorie Mason Center. It is for families and single moms. Men will NOT be aloud to stay there alone. Only if they are in a family. Background checks and drug testing will be done on all those being housed. It is being modeled after the Open Gate Ministry in Dinuba. I personally have volunteered at Open Gate and it is a wonderful ministry and there is a huge need for this. Please research more before you sign petitions.

I most definitely want my family and property protected from criminals. And there are plenty of other places suit able for people that are trying to get back in the community. Thank you for listening!

Do not allow the housing of criminals in our community. We have enough problems in Reedley without adding to them. Gang activity and theft is higher than I have ever seen in Reedley.

I can not believe the city is so poor that they are willing to endanger the citizens of Reedley by allowing, and incuraging criminals to live here, with the hope they will change. The criminals are looking for an easy out for their crimes by staying here. They will only bring more friends who could be even worse than they are. I say NO.

I don't want to live near a halfway house. I moved to Reddley thinking it would have less crime & be a safer area, not to live around the corner from a halfway house. We do not know what those people were in jail for, it doesn't make me comfortable being forced to live that close to a house full of criminals. It will also bring down property values, that is an injustice to the people who have worked hard to buy a home.
