The City Council voted down the rezoning today and I am honestly still reeling because I thought they might actually go through with it. It feels so surreal to look at those lots and know they are staying residential for now but let's keep our eyes open just in case …

Superior Grill has successfully petitioned the MPC to rezone a portion of our neighborhood into an Urban Corridor, but the fight is not over yet. The rezoning goes to the City Council next, and if you would like to keep the neighborhood zoned for residential - meaning zoned for homes that contribute to our community and our taxbase as a city - then please take a moment to sign our petition.

While the stated aim of Superior's owners is to build two parking lots on the spaces where he bought and demolished homes, the reality is this rezoning allows him to build anything from another restaurant to a stage to office spaces there. There is also no enforceable provision to keep him from selling the lots to another developer that may want to build out more businesses, or a parking structure.

Sincerely,

Your Neighbors on Dillingham

I really never thought this would gain so much steam so fast but seeing the names roll in makes me feel like this neighborhood actually has a fighting chance against these developers. It is honestly wild to see how everyone feels the same way about those empty lots where the houses used to be because it felt like I was screaming into the void just a few weeks ago.

This parking lot is unneeded, and rezoning a long standing neighborhood to appease the wants - not needs - wants of one business owner in opposition of the citizens is a dangerous precedent for our city.

There is a way to expand the restaurant without further encroachment into the neighborhood. Rezoning is unnecessary and bad for the community.

I am tired of picking up the bottles and margarita cups from Superior of my lawn. Maybe Superior will try and be a better neighbor than they have been in the past.

We live on Dillingham and often witness disoriented and irresponsible drivers leaving Superior via Monteose and our narrow avenue. The addition of the back lot will encourage traffic to exit this way placing us at even greater risk of harm.

Superior keeps eating into our neighborhood. More parking is not necessary with Uber and Lyft now in town. I support my neighbors directly dealing with this issue!

We should not be taking over neighborhoods for parking lots. Especially a parking lot where there is constantly drunk drivers leaving. As a real estate agent, this will do nothing but drop the property value of the beautiful homes.

The MPC has always done a great job at zoning our city so that commercial/residential developments makes sense. Let’s keep up that good work!

Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got Till it's gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot
